Paro is seeking a passionate individual to take ownership of and build out Paro’s platform data strategy: you will be the owner of Paro’s data. Thus, candidates should possess relentlessly high standards for their work and have demonstrated success developing and executing a data strategy. Relevant leadership skills should highlight an ability to lead, develop and coach teams, as well as work cross functionally to deliver data-driven action, insight, and solutions to stakeholders across the company.

What We Do:

We help growing companies gain confidence in their finances. Paro matches businesses with the highest vetted bookkeepers, accountants, financial analysts, and CFOs who provide remote, on-demand, hourly support when clients need it. Who You Are:

  • You are hungry to build something from the ground up. Relevant experience/qualities might include:
    • Being involved in the determination and implementation of a business data strategy at an early stage/high growth company 
    • Experience working with stakeholders to build data architecture and deliver infrastructure best practices
    • Strong track record in developing data solutions to real world business problems
    • Experience working cross functionally in order to identify and execute data outcomes 
    • Comfort with manipulating and managing complex datasets
    • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of an organization. You will need to regularly share complex insights with all kinds of people
    • Experience managing multiple projects on both short and long-term development cycles
  • You are passionate about being a leader. Relevant experience/qualities might include:
    • A leadership style that emphasizes shared goals and bias towards action
    • Experience managing data scientists and analysts (or similar roles)
    • Track record of developing successful data workers and building a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • You are a rising star who wants to spread his/her wings and leave a lasting impact:
    • 2+ years data science/architecture experience, 1+ years management experience
    • You have the energy to roll up sleeves in the beginning of the job and get in the weeds with our data
    • You have the chops to build out a team to improve the foundation you have laid

What You’ll Do:

  • Roll up your sleeves and develop our data science philosophy and then build a team to improve upon what you have built
    • This will involve working closely with our product and engineering teams, and, in the future, build out our own data science team
  • Develop machine learning algorithms that support our two-sided marketplace
    • For example: dynamic project pricing, leveraging NLP to inform freelancer pitch-making, fine-tuning our freelancer-client matching algorithm, predictive customer retention & churn modeling,  etc.  
  • Drive actionable insights from data and present them to external and internal clients in a compelling manner
  • Collaborate across departments to understand business objectives and identify novel data-opportunities
  • Plan/analyze/execute experiments to establish relationships between product features & business results
